Gardens of Torre Girona
All participants are invited to join the reception, which will take place at the garden of the UPC rectorate. Note that the event will be completely outdoors.
In the map in following link, a red dot indicates the location of the reception. Click here for a Google Maps location. It is recommended to access the Torre Girona gardens from the continuation of the Keynes street.


Lunches
From Wednesday, March 29 to Friday, March 31, lunch will take place at the Unity restaurant. From the Aula Màster, take the outdoor stairs across the porch. At the landing of the stairs, the restaurant is to your left.

Social dinner
Thursday, March 30, at 19:30
Restaurant Xup-Xup
All participants are invited to join the social dinner, which will take place at the restaurant Xup-Xup, which is located at the city beach. Note that the dinner will outdoors.

Tours
On March 30, just before the conference dinner, there will be a number of tours offered to participants. Participants can choose the preferred tour in the registration form.
Please note that each tour has a limited number of places, which will be assigned in a first come first served basis.
Tour 1) Gothic Quarter
This tour offered by Barcelona Turisme will lead you through the historic centre of the old city of Barcelona. Ideal if you have never been to the city. Duration: 1:30.
This tour starts at 17:00 from Plaça Nova (Cathedral). You will pass by Plaça del Rei (Palatine Chapel of St. Agatha, Watchtower of King Martin, palace of the Viceroy of Catalonia), Plaça Sant Jaume (Town Hall and headquarters of the regional government), Plaça del Pi and Plaça Reial.

Tour 2) Born district
This tour offered by Barcelona Turisme will lead you through the Born district, one of the oldest parts of the city, that played an important role in the history of Barcelona during the Middle Ages. Duration: 1:30.
This tour starts at 17:00 from Plaça Nova (Cathedral). You will pass by Plaça del Rei, the church Santa Maria del Mar (an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic), the Lotja de Mar, Passeig de Born, and Montcada street, among others.

Tour 3) History and Mathematics in the city
Tour offered by Pau Mir (Department of Mathematics, UPC).
On this route we will discover the emblematic and key buildings in the history of mathematics in Catalonia and, especially, in Barcelona. Duration: 1:30-2:00.
The tour starts in Sant Antoni metro station (L2) at 17:00. We will pass by the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona, the Llotja de Mar and the old Military Academy of Mathematics. Along the way, we will also see that Ciutat Vella is full of details and mathematical curiosities, such as a handful of hidden sundials.
During this tour you will walk around 5km, so it is recommended to wear comfortable clothes, and bring a water bottle.

Tour 4) Barcelona Supercomputing Center
This tour is offered by official guides from Barcelona Supercomputing Center. It is located on the UPC campus, so the starting point of the tour is the place where the reception takes place (Garden of Torre Girona). This tour starts at 17:15. The Barcelona Supercomputing Center Tour is a 30-40′ guided visit to MareNostrum, the most powerful supercomputer in Spain. It is currently in its 4th version, with an ongoing major upgrade to the 5th version. More info here.
